The Fish Waste for Profit Conference 2019 included a technical visit on the afternoon of day 2 of the event.
On Thursday 11 April, delegates were invited to join the visit to the Codland facility - Haustak.
Haustak is the largest fish drying company in Iceland. It has two factories in Iceland, in Reykjanes and Egilstaðir. Founded in 1999, the company is owned by Vísir hf. and Thorbjorn hf. Today, about 50 people work for the company, and the product is mostly dried indoors in drying rooms, and in keeping with tradition, part of the production is dried outdoors on the terraces.
